Athletes recognized on the Phenom List have been identified by the AVCA as elite rising high school volleyball student-athletes. These athletes are underclassmen who have received some form of recognition for their outstanding play (All-State, Prep Volleyball, USA Volleyball Team, etc.). These athletes will be eligible to participate in the AVCA Phenom College Prep Program, an invitation only event. Invitations to this event will be sent out in October.

For the sixth year, the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) will host the AVCA Phenom College Preparatory Program. The program is a weekend of events held in conjunction with the AVCA Annual Convention and NCAA Finals. Participating student-athletes and their parents will attend the following: Educational sessions regarding recruiting and life as a college athlete, Under Armour All-America High School Volleyball Match, NCAA Final Four volleyball matches, Panels with AVCA Collegiate All-Americans and current college coaches, and Volleyball Performance Index (VPI) testing and Athlete Behavioral Profile (ABP) assessments. The athletes will also participate in a Talent Showcase during which they will demonstrate their skills in front of the 100+ college coaches in attendance. The event is designed to prepare and educate participants and their parents about playing volleyball at the collegiate level.
The AVCA Phenom College Prep Program is an invitation-only event for uncommitted seniors on the Under Armour Watch List and uncommitted underclassmen on the AVCA Phenom List. The AVCA Phenom List is comprised of underclassmen who have received some form of recognition for their outstanding play (All-State Team, Prep Volleyball, USA Volleyball Team, etc.).
When & Where
For 2017, the event will be held in Kansas City, Missouri from December 14 – 17. All events will take place in the Kansas City Convention Center.
Invitations to register for the AVCA Phenom College Prep Program will open to members on the AVCA Phenom List on Wednesday, October 4th. Coaches and parents will receive an email featuring a link to register online. Registration will remain open until Friday, November 3rd or until maximum capacity is reached. Registration starting a $199 for the athlete. Registration to the event includes one ticket to both nights of the NCAA Semi-Final and Championship matches, one ticket to the Under Armour High School All-America Match, VPI and ABP testing, all educational sessions, and participation in the Talent Showcase.
